Arbor Landing Featured in Portico…

Relax and float… these words might just as easily have come from O’Hara Ezell’s game book on life. “People get homesick sometimes, I think, for simple things. So I’m trying as much as possible to create Mayberry,” O’Hara says of her passion for building homes at Arbor Landing on the north shore of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Along with developers Steve Ezell and Ronnie Tew, O’Hara knows that people long for simplicity and for community, and creating a home on the water invites both. “I love being outdoors,” she says. “I love how I grew up on my grandmother’s front porch, playing spotlight in the neighborhood, just being outside. That’s what I love about living in this neighborhood.” Often, she will find her 6-year-old daughter Addy down the street pulling weeds with “Mrs. Roe,” and, more often than not, she can see her three children out the breakfast room window, perched on the water’s edge with fishing poles in hand. “They catch lots of catfish back here, using hot dogs for bait!” she laughs. Plans for the next phase of development for Arbor Landing include retail development such as a restaurant with a pick-up window for lunch baskets-to-go and a general store with essentials such as milk and bread and also specialty items such as pre-made hors ‘d oeuvres. With a vision for the chic and sleek but with a heart still grounded in all things Southern and homey, O’Hara sees Arbor Landing as being like “bringing a bowl of warm chicken soup to a glass table.” Her personal mission statement includes her desire “to bring back the front porch.”
